This is a very old weathered low bench which was found in Sri Lanka .An independent island below the southern tip of India.People especially in the villages still sit on these and talk . Many words of wisdom would have been uttered by the older people to their children and grand children sitting on these benches whilst the listeners generally sat cross legged on the bare mud floor. It has a traditional temple painting depicting a Lotus Flower in the center .The Lotus flower represents the attainment of purity and achieving the balance of the mind and body through the constant practice of meditation and deep breathing.
